France's Le Pen put under house arrest, presidential run in doubt

A French appeals court has upheld the conviction of right-wing populist Marine Le Pen for embezzlement of EU funds, but has shortened the period during which she is barred from holding public office. This theoretically leaves the door open for her to run for president in ⁠2027.
