Burkina Faso junta shuts down around 100 civil society associations

The military junta in power in the West African state of Burkina Faso has ordered the dissolution of dozens of civil society groups. Since seizing power in the former French colony in 2022, the junta has restricted NGOs, trade unions and other organizations.
