Uganda shuts down internet ahead of presidential election

An internet shutdown has been ordered in Uganda for the two days up to presidential elections on Thursday. Yoweri Museveni, in power since 1986, is seeking re-election. His main challenger is Bobi Wine, who challenged him in 2021. Troops were out on the streets ahead of the poll.
