Artist behind satirical Mao sculptures jailed in China for three years

A Chinese court has sentenced artist Gao Zhen to three years for satirical depictions of Mao Zedong in a trial held behind closed doors. The US-based artist had been visiting family when he was detained in August 2024. Zhen has been in custody since then.
